NYU is seeking a Web Developer (Senior IT Specialist) to fill out our web team. The Web Developer will work in ITS and create web sites, apps, widgets, and systems for NYU.edu in collaboration with the web teams in ITS and in University Relations and Public Affairs.

Experience in developing in the Day CQ CMS environment is highly desired, but hiring a successful and proven intelligent, self-motivated developer is more important. NYU will provide Day CQ training to the person we hire.

The successful candidate should have many of the skills and experiences necessary to develop for and within our Day CQ CMS such as:

Object-Oriented Java programming and JSP
OSGi framework
jQuery library
Apache Sling framework
Ext JS framework
JCR (Java Content Repository) (e.g., Apache Jackrabbit)
JSTL (JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Language)

Outside our CMS, our web development is mostly in a LAMP environment. Other than Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP, other skills the successful candidate should have would include Perl, Oracle, and XML/RSS.

4. Quality Test Engineer Consultant (6 month to 1 year term), Academic Collaboratory, Hiring Manager = James Bullen (james.bullen@nyu.edu) (Note: ineligible for NYURefer program)

NYU’s Information Technology Services QA Team is looking for a motivated, highly technical Quality Assurance professional with excellent problem solving and communications skills to contribute to the testing and deployment of Sakai OAE (aka Sakai 3).

Requirements

  • Familiarity with testing WebApps and OSGi bundles
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL DB Systems
  • Familiarity with open source automated testing frameworks such as Junit, Mockito, and Jmeter
  • Ability to comprehend and modify custom tests in Ruby and Python
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Requires 3-5 years of prior testing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or relevant field

Duties

  • Plan, design, implement and maintain test plans and test cases
  • Report defects and follow up on them through resolution
  • Work closely with project manager and software engineers to help ensure the reliability of the applications being tested.
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
