The Queens Museum of Art is looking for an Education Assistant

The Queens Museum of Art is seeking and Assistant for the New New Yorkers Program. Using art as a catalyst, and in partnership with the Queens Library, the Assistant works part-time in conjunction with the Program Manager to develop a variety of courses and cultural programs for the immigrant community in Queens.  New New Yorkers courses are meant to provide arts, technology and English literacy courses for immigrant adults, and the ideal candidate must be comfortable working with different communities and enthusiastic about the Arts and their place in education and daily life.

Although not a fast-paced environment, multi-tasking and organization are a must for this job.

Duties include:

  • Assist with the design and development of Arts and Literacy courses for adults, in languages other than English.
  • Work closely with artists, educators and other museum staff to coordinate said courses.
  • Liaison with Hispanic, East Asian and other communities around Queens.
