JOB: A Postdoc researcher in the area of ICT-mediated social interaction (deadline extension)

Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT is a joint research institute of Aalto University and the University of Helsinki for basic and applied research on information technology (http://www.hiit.fi/). A new research group Social Interaction and Emotion in the Network Society research programme will focus on the social psychological aspects of information and communication technologies (ICT).

We are looking for a POSTDOC RESEARCHER in the area of ICT-MEDIATED SOCIAL INTERACTION
for a three-year period.
The research of the group focuses, for example, on the emotional and cognitive processes during mediated social interaction. The research supports the creation of ICT that is optimal from the perspective of human emotional and cognitive processes and social interaction. Methodological approaches include also psychophysiological recordings (e.g., EEG, facial EMG).
The tasks of the Postdoc researcher include carrying out state-of-the-art academic research with the best possible collaborators, reasonable freedom, and opportunities for a high impact. We strongly favor inter-group and interdisciplinary interaction. The researcher is also expected to participate in the preparation of new research projects.
We appreciate the following characteristics:
·         Appropriate education (PhD in computer or information science, social psychology, psychology, cognitive science, or a closely related field)
·         Proactive approach to work
·         Ability to co-operate in a multidisciplinary research team and with partners of international projects
·         Solid experience in research work as witnessed by international peer-reviewed publications
·         Expertise with psychophysiological methods (e.g., facial EMG, EEG) is an advantage, but not a prerequisite
