INTERN: Tectonic Theater Project – piece about autism

Tectonic Theater Project (The Laramie Project, Gross Indecency, 33 Variations)
is seeking an intern to work on a new piece of theatre about Autism Spectrum
Disorder called Square Peg Round Hole. The intern will work along side
company member, Andy Paris, in creating this piece. The internship will last
approximately the length of the school year and the time commitment will be on
an as-needed basis. The Intern should possess strong organizational
skills and experience with computer programs such as Power Point. Square Peg
will have a heavy technical component so any other computer skills, such as
programming, would be a plus. Duties will include research, organization of data,
video and sound, as well as general computer support. A short description of the
project follows:

Square Peg Round Hole is a theatrical exploration of the Autistic mind, which
will reach across mental, social and ethnic divides. What is the Autistic social
construct? Is Autism a disorder in search of a cure, or is it an evolutionary
necessity that will allow us to continue to adapt as a species? Our understanding
of Autism as a nation will acutely impact the raising of a generation. Using
technology and explorations of theatrical form, using personal narratives
and scientific data, all within an historical context, The Spectrum Project will
investigate what it means to live in a world outside the bounds of ‘normal.’
