[JOB] Studio Art Integrated Media Tenure-Track position opening

The Texas State University School of Art and Design is currently seeking qualified applicants for a studio art tenure-track position in Integrated Media. We are specifically interested in graduates of your Interactive Telecommunication program. Listed below are the responsibilities, required qualifications, and preferred qualifications for this position.

Appointment Date: September 1, 2012

 

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 undergraduate Studio Art courses per semester

• Actively participate in the Studio Art program with a specific assignment in the development and coordination of the Integrated Media specialization

• Pursue personal research/creative activity in relevant discipline and build a substantive record of professional/peer recognition

• Engage in service to the school, college, university, community and profession

 

Required Qualifications

Eligible applicants will have:

• An MFA degree in a Studio Art discipline completed before September 2012

• A record of professional accomplishments in research/creative activity within the Integrated Media area (new media arts, time-based art, video art, sound art, electronic art, et. al.)

• Expertise in digital video and sound editing software

• In-depth knowledge of the history of visual art and contemporary practices in video and new media art

• Successful college-level teaching experience (teacher of record) in the visual arts

• Strong formal and conceptual skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

 

Preference will be given to candidates who also have:• Experience beyond the primary IM research/creative activity area in one or more of the following: web-based art, performance art, relational aesthetics/social practice

• Expertise in digital media/multimedia software

• Experience in Studio Art curriculum development

• Service-related activities in undergraduate and graduate studio art program(s), or professional organization(s)

• Successful funding procurement and grant activity
