Manager of Web and Interactive Technologies
The Museum of Arts and Design seeks a talented and motivated technology expert to manage the Museum’s online and on-site interpretive projects. The manager will be responsible for maintaining the museum’s website, including helping to support Museum staff’s use of the site CMS (Drupal) and doing site updates and upgrades. The manager will also develop new online projects to support the Museum’s exhibitions and programs. The Manager will use the Museum’s interactive touchscreen technology to provide interpretive content to visitors, and will also work closely with the Museum’s curatorial staff to design and create new physical interpretive projects.
The candidate for this position should be excited by the challenge of maintaining and improving the technologies that are used by the hundreds of thousands of visitors that come to the Museum and its websites every year. She/he is creative and motivated; has experience in a highly collaborative working environment; and must be able to work well with others, including non-technical colleagues. While the candidate need not have any formal training in graphic design, she/he should be able to recognize ‘good design,’ and should be ready to create well-designed work. The candidate should be passionate about technology, and should be interested in finding new ways to use technology to educate and entertain. All applicants should be prepared to share a strong, well-balanced portfolio.
The ideal candidate for this position has very strong front-end web development skills (HTML/CSS/JS), and is also comfortable writing and maintaining PHP. Experience with Drupal and LAMP are real plusses, as is the ability to administer web servers from the command line. The candidate should also have experience with various types of display technologies (screens, projectors, media players, etc.), and should be able to install, maintain, and debug computers, touchscreens, and other physical media. Special consideration will be given to candidates that can demonstrate experience in creating their own unique works of web and physical technology designed to engage users in some way.
All applicants must have at least two years of working experience. Interested candidates should send their resume, portfolio and salary requirements to info@madmuseum.org.
