[JOB] Service Designer – Part-Time Opportunity

Service Designer – Part-Time Opportunity

Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center

Patients undergoing a bone marrow transplant at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer (MSKCC) receive a high volume of information both in person and in print. MSKCC has identified a need to rethink and redesign both the content and the delivery of this information. Our goal is to improve patients’ experience by increasing their understanding and participation in all aspects of their care during the transplant journey.

MSKCC is seeking a service designer to support the Patient Education Department in this effort. The work includes looking at the way information is currently organized and delivered to patients, filtering relevant information, updating and organizing the information as necessary and ultimately thinking of new ways to deliver this service more effectively. He/she will work closely with the transplant clinical team (nurses, nurse practitioners, doctors).

This is an ideal opportunity for graduate service design students seeking experience in a challenging context. The ideal candidate will have an interest in both service and information design. The duration of the assignment is March-June 2012, approximately 15-20 hours per week at the rate of $25 per hour with the opportunity to extend to full-time over the summer months. We are looking for someone who is able to work on site, when necessary.

To apply send a résumé and a cover letter to Era Bani, banie@mskcc.org.
