Help American Museum of Natural History by becoming a Data Collector.
We are seeking people with good observation skills to help us understand how visitors use an app in the exhibition Beyond Planet Earth at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). While working, you can learn anthropological methods for collecting “field” data and increase your understanding of the barriers and supports that apps can bring to informal science learning.
Data collectors will do simple interviews from a script or watch people as they move through the exhibition space. Feeling comfortable talking to people is a plus, but no special skills required. If you are not fingerprinted by the Museum already, you will be required to do so. We will make all arrangements and there will be no cost associated with it.
Training and Data Collection Project led by TERC, a not for profit research and development firm hired by AMNH.
Dates of Commitment:
Training: Friday, June 15, 2-4 pm. Required
Data Collection Period: June 15-17th to start. (Shifts vary but are about 3 hours. Hoping for a minimum of 8 hours although shifts can be spread over several days).
