Web/Software Developer & System Administrator Job Description
upcoming projects and maintaining existing products. The developer will be responsible for
working with the existing design and development teams to write server-side code in
support of web, mobile, and desktop applications, and will have the opportunity to help
shape the design of upcoming products. The successful candidate will have demonstrated
experience working on interactive client/server applications and with a wide array of
programming and design technologies. The developer will also be partly responsible for
Linux system administration, and for creating, updating and maintaining MySQL databases
as needed to power our applications.
This position will be part time to start (20h/week), and will grow into full time (40h/week)
over the next 3-5 months. Salary commensurate with experience.
Requirements/Experience
At least 3-5 years of software development experience in server-side technologies (PHP,
Ruby on Rails, MySQL, etc.). Candidate must have a familiarity with a wide range of
technologies and the demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies as
needed. Candidate must have experience with Linux system administration and
maintaining web and database servers. Candidate also must have experience working on
complex projects through all stages of development, from initial design to maintenance.
Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or computer engineering
preferred.
