Family Translational Research Group
Opportunity
The Family Translational Research Group (FTRG) is directed by two clinical psychologists and has received over 35 federal grants to conduct research on understanding and preventing family dysfunction and violence. Since 1997, FTRG has offered students an opportunity to be involved in its research. Such experience is a great addition to your resume or CV for a future job position, and is needed for admission to most graduate programs. The FTRG typically has about 10 active federally-funded projects with many technological needs.
We are looking for individuals to assist with and collaborate on ongoing and upcoming projects. Currently, we have multiple technology needs for our NORTH STAR project – a large-scale prevention trial with the U.S. Air Force.
There are several areas in which we need technical computer science programming assistance, including, but not limited to:
• Administering Assessments and Analyzing Data:
o Invite participants to take an assessment via email
o Analyze data from assessments to inform Feedback Report
• Programming Assessment Feedback Report Module:
o Create an automated system to analyze data from assessments outlined above
• Up to 125 units; 50-150 respondents each
o Produce individualized unit-level feedback reports reporting the following:
• Prevalences of behavioral problems, risk factor profile grid (associations between risk factors and behavioral problems), identify highest leverage risk factors
• Creating Intervention Planning Tool Module:
o Build webpage for all Evidenced Based Interventions
• Highest leverage risk factors associated with Interventions
• Description of interventions
• Recommended steps for implementing and monitoring
o Identify hits for NORTH STAR tools/interventions (Reach data)
• Track use of intervention web-sites sites via unique log-on for each web-based intervention and other types of interventions
People who join our team can expect a great experience. The majority of the research will be completed on-site in our lab located in the NYUCD offices within the Manhattan VA. Salary for this project will range from $20 – $40 per hour based on applicants experience, background and skill.
