We’re looking for a social, tech-savvy person to help spread the word about how Temboo can help developers, and help us build the best possible product by gathering the insight of our users. You will be the voice of developers, helping us support and expand our online community.
Temboo is a small, solid start-up full of smart people who love to learn from each other, and are motivated by a larger sense of a purpose. Our mission is to impact and improve the ways technology is created and put to use: we’re changing the way code gets written, and in doing so, removing barriers to making. By building tools that work with the cloud, we make it possible for developers to focus on the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of app invention while we take care of the ‘how.’ Our intelligent code snippets called Choreos are instantly deployable, updatable, modular and scalable. They make playing with APIs simple, and implementing otherwise time-consuming and technically difficult processes (like handling authentication) nearly automagical. The result: a new wave of makers and apps that can call upon the clouds and bring forth innovative and meaningful technology that will improve lives.
ABOUT THE GIG
This position is part mad scientist, scout leader, performance artist, blogger, and online entrepreneur.
Some of the ways you’ll spend your days include:
- Advocating the adoption of Temboo to the broader programming community.
- Providing customer support on Temboo forums and groups; engaging in active conversation within the blogosphere, new groups, mailing lists, and social networks.
- Evangelizing our developer products in person and online by presenting at conferences, conducting demonstrations, blogging and tweeting, composing technical tutorials, and other similar activities to increase the virality of Temboo.
- Engaging and building relationships with both existing and prospective customers in the developer community.
- Experimenting with new ways our technology can be used, and building new toys to show it off.
- Working with exciting companies such as Facebook and foursquare to build smart processes for their API.
- Assisting our growing user community by creating resources that make it easier and more satisfying for developers to build on the Temboo platform.
- Learning how we can improve from our users, and bringing home insights that will shape the next generation of our product.
- Dreaming about how to spread the word about Temboo more effectively, and making it happen.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a natural leader with a deep technical background. You like being in the spotlight, but love to help other people even more. You have an itch to build things and play with new tech, but like people more than code. You’re interested in building (or already have) a smart, well-respected online presence in the tech community. You’re stranger than the average bear.
Some of the specific qualities we’re looking for include:
- Proven experience and a passion for programming.
- Substantial success as a software developer, architect, technology evangelist, CTO, or consultant for web technologies.
- Active participation in online and offline developer communities.
- Experience building thriving developer communities.
- Strong command of building web or mobile apps, and a thirst for learning about the latest and greatest new tech.
- Experience blogging and writing technical articles on developing, preferably with an existing user following.
- Comfortable speaking one-on-one or in front of groups.
- Great communication skills – you love talking about what you’ve learned or built (particularly with other geeks) and can express yourself in video, text, or in person.
- Independent and self-motivated – you’ll have the leeway to define much of your job.
Temboo offers competitive compensation, an informal work environment, flexible hours, respect for individual contribution, and a unique opportunity to shape a game-changing company. We’re looking for people who have passionate interests outside of work as well (please mention some of these in your cover letter).
