Overview: The Center for K-12 STEM Education at NYU Tandon School of Engineering is currently in search of instructors for our Creativity in Engineering, Science and Technology (CrEST) program for NYC high school students! We are seeking talented students who are passionate about inspiring young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and dedicated to helping prepare them to pursue STEM studies. The Center’s programs are hands-on, emphasizing the ways in which the fundamentals of science, technology and engineering are applied to solve real-world problems and to discover new knowledge through research.

Who You Are: We are seeking an instructor to teach two sections of IDM’s K-12 summer program, ‘Extending Reality Through Virtual Worlds’. The ideal candidate would have a firm grasp of tools required to develop cross-platform augmented reality applications, including beginner tools like Blippar and Spark, good technical design skills creating assets and other materials in Adobe Creative Suite, and a passion for teaching what they know. The instructor will be required to meet with the IDM full-time faculty and teaching assistant also running the program before the course starts, half-way during the course, and after the course concludes.

Schedule: There are two two-week sections of this course we are running this summer: the first section runs from July 6-17, and the second from 20-31. Instructors will be expected to put in roughly 2 hours per day, 20 hours per week.

Evaluation:  There will be check-ins with the faculty supervisor prior to the start of each course section, and after all sections have been completed. There will also be orientations with the K-12 STEM summer courses team.

Supervisor: Dr. Ahmed Ansari, Assoc. Professor, NYU Tandon
