Position Summary

Under direction of the Assistant Director, Research and Digital Services (WCMC Library) and the Manager, Core Applications and Associate Director of Design & Development (ITS), serve as a Developer for systems in support of the Samuel J. Wood Library & C.V. Starr Biomedical Information Center. The Web Developer will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and integration of library applications at WCMC, as well as responsibilities in the operation and maintenance of related systems and applications.

Position Activities

• The Web Developer is responsible for the implementation of library systems for Weill Cornell Medical College. Programs enhancements, bug fixes, and new functionality as necessary towards related projects. Works closely with appropriate Library staff to ensure systems are functioning and to plan enhancements.

• Performs other job related duties as required.

• Performs data analysis relevant to performance of Library systems and programs, including but not limited to access logs, web metrics, and social media usage and other types of data relevant to the library and college at large.

• Creates and maintains data interfaces, web services, and social media integration for new and existing WCMC data sources and applications.

• Works with Database Administrators to ensure optimal integration of developed solutions with backend databases system(s).

• Creates and performs unit and acceptance testing for quality assurance on all newly developed or modified code.

• Maintains projects, code, and assets in the appropriate source repository.

• Works closely with the senior management, project managers, and relevant faculty and staff to maintain a pragmatic and aggressive release plan for all projects.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
• College Graduate. Two (2) years minimum working experience in related field. Candidate must have strong knowledge of and demonstrable experience with HTML, JavaScript, and PHP. Candidate must be knowledgeable of system development lifecycle methodologies needed to support the integration of software applications into a service-oriented architecture. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Must have the ability to gain knowledge of and master new technologies quickly and thoroughly. Must be able to work in a team setting and establish strong working relationships with colleagues, partners, and clients. Must be able to multi-task, communicate clearly, work independently, provide accurate time estimates, and maintain rigorous attention to detail.

Highly Desired Requirements
• Experience working with LDAP, Active Directory, MySQL, and content management systems is desired. Familiarity with XML, RDF, SPARQL and OWL is preferred.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Director of the User Support Group within the Information Technologies and Services Department ITS Communications Specialist is responsible for conceptualizing, writing, and editing content for ITS external and internal communications. The individual will create and maintain content as it pertains to the ITS website, Knowledge Base articles, service updates and announcements, etc. The ITS Communications Specialist works closely with ITS Management to develop/refine comprehensive communication strategies and Standard Operating Procedures for ITS.

Position Activities

• Support and maintain social media initiatives and presence for ITS.

• Work with internal ITS groups to design communications standards, templates, processes, and procedures. Provide oversight of all communications to ensure consistency of messaging and alignment with defined departmental objectives. Develop routine feedback mechanisms to promote cross communication and ensure that messages are being delivered in a consistent manner.

• Assist in the creation of training materials, orientation processes and project presentations for newsletters and news releases and related items.

• Stay current with industry trends and best practices of online marketing to meet business objectives and introduce innovations to the team.

• Write and/or assist with various internal and external communications that may include: writing, editing, marketing, blogging, and social media communication vehicles.

• Work with Business Relationship Managers (ITS Departmental Liaisons), senior management, and other appropriate parties to gather departmental communications requirements, and streamline and improve departmental communications.

• Participate with Management to brainstorm and develop content that can be deployed to enhance the awareness of IT service offerings.

• Participate in the creation of customer satisfaction surveys.

• Routinely write, edit, publish and review the ITS website content, ITS service catalog, and knowledgebase articles, updates, announcements, etc. Provide routine content maintenance including creating new webpages, updating text, images and video. Assist with implementation process and guidelines to ensure ITS web content is current and accurate. Monitor ITS site effectiveness via analysis to continuously drive usage and self-help.

• Assist in maintaining a culture of continuous improvement of customer service standards, knowledgebase articles, policies and procedures for the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• College diploma or degree in the field of Communications or related field and/or 3+ years equivalent experience in editing and writing publications.

• Proficiency in social media forms and web development, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and blogging

• Previous experience with marketing strategies in particular, online strategies.

• Ability to plan and prioritize work while responding flexibly to rapidly changing priorities.

Position Summary

Under direction of the Core Applications Manager, the Senior Web Application Developer will develop, write and maintain rich internet applications and solutions for ITS clients. This position is responsible for gathering requirements and leading the analysis, design, development, testing and implementation on applicable projects.

Position Activities

• Creates user-friendly rich internet applications for WCMC/NYP customers. Designs, develops, and maintains necessary databases, source code, assets, tools, and documentation for new and existing applications.

• Uses, helps to define, and evangelizes best practices and principles in all areas of software development, including design, coding, documentation, testing, and implementation. Evaluates and documents tools and techniques in support of improving the way services are produced and delivered.

• Works with end users in collaboration with other teams throughout the department and lead efforts to determine the feasibility, requirements, and technical design of assigned projects. Works closely with the senior management, project managers, faculty and staff to sustain a pragmatic and aggressive release plan for all projects.

• Creates, maintains, and integrates interfaces and web services for new and existing WCMC data sources and applications. Defines architecture and standards for web services and interfaces.

• Produces and maintains comprehensive, usable, service documentation per project, including requirements, design, implementation, deployment, testing and maintenance in collaboration with developers and system administrators. Develops user training materials and knowledge base materials to assist the Support Desk in supporting built applications as necessary.

• Adheres to defined application development life-cycle practices including but not limited to requirements gathering, writing test plans, source code management, and quality assurance through unit/system/user acceptance testing. Leads peer code reviews.

• Keep abreast of current developments in the field through continuing education, professional reading, participation in conferences, workshops, and professional groups.

• Analyzes projects requirements and proposes solutions utilizing standardized design methodologies. Creates design documents, mock-ups and proof of concept systems as necessary. Vets and reviews design proposals from other team members.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Solid understanding of database design and construction, particularly Oracle 10g, Microsoft SQL Server, and/or MySQL.

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

IT Program Manager-18747
Description

Position Summary

Under the direction from the WCMC Director of Research Computing the Director of the CTSC Bioinformatics Core and in consultation with other ITS Directors and Assistant Directors normal supervision, the Program Manager is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and ongoing operation of Clinical Research Databases (CRDB) and other research repositories and registries. The Program Manager acts as the primary intermediary between researchers and their teams, business analysts, programmers and other technical staff, including key vendors, who will actually build and support the software. The incumbent will work directly with the College’s central administration, CTSC leadership, and departmental users to gather business requirements, analyze work flows and data flows, create specifications, answer questions, set expectations, plan and deliver products and services to meet the user’s and College’s business needs.

Position Activities

• Work with the PMO in the development of cost models and financial feasibility analyses for IT projects and services in consultation with ITS and POIS staff, appropriate partners (e.g., NYP), vendors, and users in accordance with the ITS/POIS PMO Policies and Procedures. Collaborate closely with PMO and assigned project managers and users to develop project charters and plans based on requirements gathered from researchers, the CTSC, other users and stakeholders, and ITS technical staff. Ensure that the management and deliverables of projects related to research databases are completed on schedule and that WCMC stakeholders are kept aware of progress and milestones.

• Perform business and technical feasibility analyses of complex IT issues related to research databases. Assess proposed projects against institutional technical architecture and policy standards, utilizing domain knowledge and an understanding of technology strengths & limitations necessary to provide solutions, as well as, open, patient and transparent communication skill with WCMC faculty, researchers, & administration for requirements gathering, problem solving, and regular feedback on research requirements. Manage selections and subsequent vendor relationships. Prepare written reports and deliver presentations on research repositories and databases to ITS management and other stakeholders.

• Directly, or through the supervision of business analysts or other staff, document research workflows and use case scenarios as part of the requirements gathering and feasibility analysis process for new projects. Assist or supervise project managers, analysts, other ITS, & POIS staff, and users in developing constantly improving databases and repositories.
• Build strategic relationships with key leaders in departments and research administration, to intimately understand their IT needs; plan and provision IT service growth with data collected from these partnerships. Collaborate closely with POIS, NYP, Qatar, Ithaca, and other affiliates to understand their requirements and ensure necessary buy-in. Maintains strong interpersonal communication, problem solving and analytical skills. Is capable of providing support and encouragement to organizations undergoing change.

Assists in development and execution of project work breakdown structures and other project and operational documentation and procedures. Work with technical staff and data stewards on issues relate to accessing data in the EMR to populate a institutional data warehouse that facilitates providing research specific data-marts with appropriate data as well as accepting new types of patient information back from them to be used in support of the investigation of new clinical hypotheses.

• Maintains functional knowledge of the relevant source systems and CRDBs to enable the effective delivery of training and user assistance. Develops or oversees the development of the necessary test scenarios, documentation, training materials, support knowledgebase, and CRDB Master Data Definitions.

• Development and monitoring annual and multi-year capital and operational budgets for the various projects and programs you manage.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience in healthcare, business, computer science, education, or other relevant field. A minimum of five or more years of functional systems or database development or related analysis experience is required. Strong technical presentation skills are required. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships built on mutual vision, trust, collaboration and accountability without direct lines of authority. Must be able to adapt interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with different audience types (e.g., clinicians, operations leaders, etc.).
