The Virginia Commonwealth University Libraries invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of Innovative Media. The successful candidate for this newly created position will provide leadership for the establishment of the Libraries’ Innovative Media services and the innovative use of media across the university. The Head will establish strategic relationships and design services and instructional programs supporting students’ curricular requirements in the creation, dissemination and use of media. In addition, the Head of Innovative Media will have a leadership role in planning and implementing the Innovative Media Studio in a new library building at VCU, currently planned to open in 2015. The Innovative Media model at the VCU Libraries is built on a commitment to providing flexible, technology-intensive spaces, training and educational programs focused on students and faculty engaged in instruction, and programming designed collaboratively by librarians, faculty, and campus providers of media services to students. The Head participates in related library and campus committees and ad hoc groups. The successful candidate will join a culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber.
