[INTERN] Dorkshop Intern, Girls Write Now

Dorkshop Intern @ Girls Write Now:
New York’s first and only nonprofit with a writing and mentoring model exclusively for girls, Girls Write Now has been distinguished by the President’s Committee on the Arts & the Humanities as one of the nation’s top 15 after school arts and culture programs.  Our Digital Media program is designed to boost girls’ tech savvy and creative potential. With guidance from the MacArthur Foundation-funded Hive Learning Network NYC, our Dorkshops  digitally integrate our core Mentoring Program.  We are currently interviewing for both a spring 2013 and summer 2013 intern to focus on our digital Dorkshops program, serving high school aged girls from underserved communities and with high drive and abilities in writing and interest in technology. This year the mentees are focused on combining narrative with mobile gaming in creating their own games. Last year  in the pilot, the focus was “remix” — an example of a digital project is here. The internships will consist of either one full or two half weekdays at the Girls Write Now office in Manhattan and assisting in 3 workshops per semester with mentees, held on Saturdays. Please apply via the Programs Intern Application here. More information at www.girlswritenow.org. Read a mentees experience of a recent Dorkshop here
