Position Opening:
Media and Technology Manager for The Kitchen
The Kitchen seeks a Media and Technology Manager to manage The Kitchen’s web and IT infrastructure (network, phone system, servers, audio/visual equipment), while also providing technical support to staff and artists, and addressing the various multimedia needs for The Kitchen’s administrative and promotional efforts.
Primary responsibilities include: managing and maintaining servers and NAS devices, workstations (PC and Mac), copiers, printers, and other peripheral networking equipment. The Media and Technology Manager also identifies and resolves network/computer problems, monitors and maintains IT infrastructural integrity, enforces security policies, ensures accurate nightly backups, provides input on operational processes and procedures, researches and supervises the purchase of new technology acquisitions, and maintains an inventory of computer hardware, software, and A/V equipment. The Media and Technology Manager also updates and maintains The Kitchen’s website, working directly with the marketing and development team to create email marketing material. In addition, the Media and Technology Manager provides support to staff, interns, and artists with day-to-day computer problems; assists the curatorial and development team with preparing video materials for exhibitions, performances, and grant applications. The Media and Technology Manager works closely with all staff, but especially with the curators and the technical director on artistic projects and reports directly to the Associate Director.
Qualifications: Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have experience with both Windows, Mac OSX operating systems, basic small office networking (switches, routers, VPNs, etc) and standard application layer protocols (SSH, SFTP, FTP, SMB, DHCP, etc), experience in hardware/software troubleshooting and providing hands-on training/desktop support, and comfort with the set-up of standard A/V equipment.
Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, CSS, LAMP Server Administration, Adobe Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro are essential. Additional experience with Linux, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, PHP, mySQL, FileMaker, DVD Studio Pro, and Raisers Edge are a plus.
