ONLINE MANAGER JULY 1 2013
The New Museum seeks an Online Manager to be responsible for the coordination and management of all content on New Museum’s website and e-communcations. The Online Manager works closely with the Editor and Graphic Designer and reports to the Marketing Director. Position starts early August.
Update + steward newmuseum.org
o Maintain dynamic homepage that showcases highlights at the Museum
o Add new content (events, exhibitions, blog posts, etc.)
o Exhibition pages: Add and update media as it becomes available, (installation shots, press releases, audio guides, video,tweets/hashtags, etc.)
o Work with each department to make sure their page(s) is current and relevant
o Proofread/ double check all updates to website
o Manage CMS access

o Work with Kettle (New Museum’s web agency) to build on and improve current site
o Update and steward content
o Manage CMS access
Manage / oversee New Museum MailChimp account
o Oversee all MailChimp use within the Museum
(grant appropriate access levels to those who need)
o Monitor statistics for account and for each list;
make recommendations for successful email campaigns
o Manage list + email campaign organization
o Develop + manage timelines for e-communications (e-newsletters, e-vites, etc.)
o Gather content and assemble bimonthly e-newsletters to New Museum News list
o Proofread/ double check all outgoing emails
o Share campaign reports as necessary
Additional responsibilities
_ Proofread and copy edit texts for online platforms and some related printed materials
– Update lobby screens with current exhibitions, and also for special events
– Tumblr: update theme and customize code as necessary
– Collect internal and external feedback on newmuseum.org and ideas-city.org and work with Kettle on improvements
– Monitor analytics and make recommendations for generating site traffic
– Work with Marketing Director to manage Google AdWords
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 1-2 years of experience of various online platforms management; excellent writing and proofreading skills; and necessary back end skills for maintaining website and MailChimp. Strong HTML CSS knowledge, PHP a plus. Familiarity with version control systems SVN, GIT and unix shell, knowledge of AWS a plus. Strong knowledge of the contemporary art world preferred. She/he must have exceptional organizational skills, proficency for internet culture and close familiarity with the tools and the landscape of the online world. Candidates who have worked in a contemporary art museum environment will be given preference. Candidate must have a BA in English or related field.
