Job Description
Fiddle String Labs is looking for an Android developer who can take a lead role in building the next great consumer app that makes getting the right information from devices to a delightful, efficient and human experience. Ideal candidates are individuals who love to code and also enjoy working collaboratively in a team.
You will build and ship the next great consumer mobile application. Deep experience with agile product development, a love for human-centered design, and a passion to solve hard problems with creative solutions are all required to thrive in our fast-paced startup environment. We expect you to have experience in shipping products and be able to troubleshoot your Android SDK setup locally on your laptop.
You will:

Work closely with product, design and back-end teams to define, iterate and implement new features

Advance our Android application by adding new features and improving reliability

Publish our first and subsequent versions to the Play Store

Work with outside data sources and APIs

Unit test code for robustness, including edge cases, usability and general reliability

Fix bugs and improve application performance

Continuously discover, evaluate and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency
Skills and requirements
We are looking for:
-
5+ years of proven experience with building and deploying consumer-facing Android applications and services that scale

Practical experience with developing applications across multiple resolution devices and different versions of the Android SDK

Strong coding skills and computer science fundamentals

Experience working with remote data via REST and JSON

Experience with 3rd party libraries and APIs

Experience with testing tools such as Roboelectric
-
Great reasoning and troubleshooting abilities
-
Ability to develop polished user interfaces
-
Passion for good and human-centered design and usability

Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
-
Solid understanding of the full mobile development lifecycle
-
Ability to work in fast-paced and agile development environment

Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency, drive and willingness to learn

Someone who values independence to own features end-to-end while working well in a team environment and contributing to the success of the entire team

An eye for design detail and experience with Material design
We’d love to see (although not required):

Familiarity with Android audio stack

Experience building and shipping voice and / or audio based applications such as music streaming, media player, voice assistant or similar
