Interaction Design Lead
NYC, New York, United States · DesignDesign at Unlimited Labs
Design is core to what we do at Unlimited Labs. This is a unique opportunity to not only impact the design of a single company, but to also empower a community of expert freelancers to design thousands of websites. Our Head of User Experience & Design has been on our team since day one and, as a result, user research and user experience play dominant roles in the development of our technology and product. Empathy for our users—both clients and expert workers (freelancers)—is fundamental to our team. Our first product creates and maintains websites for small business in significantly less time, for less money, and at a level of quality previously only available to multinational businesses with million-dollar budgets. Clients simply describe their requests via text message or email, and we turn their requests into projects that are completed by a network of expert freelance designers that are aided by automation. This service is powered by a technology we are building called Orchestra. Orchestra serves up interesting client work for expert freelancers while automating away the annoying parts of the job using machine learning and other tools to improve experts’ workflows. The time savings, cost savings, and design quality flow back to our small business clients.
Role

Using design tools as you see fit, you will propose design standards and experiences that reinforce our technology and brand. In addition to individual contributions, you will mentor junior teammates, educate the broader team on the design process, and help build and develop our design practice.Requirements

- You enjoy thinking about and developing branding
- You are passionate about the future of work
- You have some mobile experience
- You have worked on branding efforts in the past
- You have experience working with startups or relevant academic experience

- You have some experience working on interdisciplinary product teams
- You have some experience implementing design ideas in HTML/CSS/JavaScript
- You have some presence in a web/local design community like Dribbble
Don’t fear
- We don’t have a minimum number of years of experience for this role. We highly favor talent, interest, and cultural match.
- Some candidates might see a few items in this list and feel discouraged because they don’t match all of them. Please apply anyway: there’s a good chance you’re more wonderful than you think you are.
