Senior Electrical Engineer at BioLite
BioLite is looking for an experienced senior EE to join us in developing our next
generation of clean energy solutions for both outdoor recreation and emerging markets.
In this position you’ll lead development of electrical hardware for a range of exciting new
products with potential for massive global health and environmental impacts.

interesting problems, work with an exceptional team, take ideas from concept through to large-scale production, and

Key Activities
Hardware Development – Design, simulate, ECAD, prototype and debug new embedded electronics.
Designs must deliver high levels of functionality and reliability in extremely price-sensitive markets. Key
areas of functionality include low- and medium-voltage DC-DC power conversion, sensing and signal
conditioning, data gathering and storage, memory interfacing and management, and wired and wireless
communication via USB, serial and other protocols.
Design for Manufacturing – Execute and deliver production-ready design artwork and Bills of Materials,
and production line programming, calibration and testing infrastructure. Travel, manage and liaise with
vendors and manufacturing partners.
Skill Building and Facilities – Build and integrate electrical lab and prototyping capabilities within the
company. Procure, maintain, and evolve equipment and software.
Technology Development – As part of our broader team, identify and develop technologies that can be
applied to emerging and outdoor recreation markets in various areas including cooking, energy-access,
lighting, and off-grid living.
Key Attributes
5+ years’ experience in electrical engineering or related discipline
Strong mathematical and basic engineering foundation
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and learn quickly
Enthusiasm for new technology, design, and innovation
Accountability, sense of humor, proactive nature and work ethic
Self-managing and motivated; experience in a start-up environment a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Technical skills
Experience in embedded electronics design and prototyping
Familiarity with EDA/ECAD software
Experience with power electronics, control systems, communications preferred
Experience with high-volume consumer products preferred
Familiarity with firmware development using C preferred
Other software development experience with C++, Python, MATLAB, JavaScript a plus

work on challenging data analysis, research and product development questions.

Key Activities
Firmware development for new energy-related products; will include firmware architecture design,
code development, documentation, rigorous testing and debugging, and manufacture support.
Data analysis, scripting and research support for internal technology development, funded
research, and product development; will include test automation, data gathering and analysis,
presentation of results, and support of other team members in this process.
Development of internal systems and processes for productivity, information security, etc; will
include general software engineering support, revision control, build and release control, and
development of software solutions to facilitate collaboration and productivity within the company.
Key Attributes
The ideal candidate for this position
has an excellent academic and technical background in software engineering or computer science,
has 2-5 years of development experience in a range of languages and domains, including low-level
embedded systems, scripting and data analysis,
is comfortable in a fast-paced, agile work environment and excited to tackle new challenges,
can work independently and take initiative while remaining a productive part of an interdisciplinary
and collaborative product-development team.
Skills Required
experience with C for embedded microcontrollers/DSPs
experience with general-purpose scripting, preferably Python
experience with data analysis in MATLAB, R, or similar a plus
experience with modern web frameworks a plus
some hardware experience preferred, e.g. basic circuit design, control systems, etc.
