Summary
Vision Ed, Inc (VEI) is an education non-profit (501(c)3) that works with youth and educators to
support authentic learning experiences using technology, and the arts, giving the learner control
of both design and creation. In doing this, VEI is counteracting deep-seated trends in education.
We pay particular attention to our impact on disenfranchised student populations as well as
youth who have been failed by traditional education, in New York City and beyond.
We currently have an exciting opportunity to provide an after school music production program,
and would like you to join our team!
VEI is currently seeking a part-time instructor to teach the various elements of beat making and
music production 1-2 times a week at a high school in the South Bronx.  The instructor will be
responsible for creating the curriculum for the class under the supervision of our managers.  Our
focus is on creating an environment that engages students with all levels of experience,
encourages collaboration and builds confidence.
Our instructors are compensated at competitive rates, and those who demonstrate excellent
performance will be considered for additional teaching opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
 Teach 1-2 days a week from 3-5pm from late-September 2015 through spring 2016
 Create curriculum for the class to be submitted to manager for approval
 Maintain regular communication with manager
 Complete written reports detailing classroom activity within 24 hours of class
Requirements
 Strong background music production
 Strong knowledge of & experience in all elements of music production including beat
making, song writing, recording and editing
 Experience with teens either in a traditional school environment or within non-
traditional teaching environments such as tutoring or camp counseling
 Ability to engage students with varied skill levels in the same group
 Ability to commit to teaching 1-2 days a week
 Proven mastery of classroom management techniques
 Ability to be on time and prepared for class
 Ability to independently get to and from the South Bronx
 Availability to attend staff trainings and workshops as required
 Energy and enthusiasm about working with youth
