Position Summary:
Arts and Science is seeking a dedicated Multimedia Specialist to join
the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. This individual will
provide multimedia technical workshop training to students during
class and outside workshops; present, discuss, demonstrate, and apply
media technology techniques; advise on selection of media equipment.
Work with Faculty to conceptualize course content and digital
solutions based on class project requirements. Work with students to
provide support for fieldwork, documentaries and photography related
to coursework. Provide training during student studio time. Provide
multimedia expertise for the Bedford + Bowery New York Magazine
initiative including: quality control, graphic creation with editors,
and coding articles to put into WordPress. Provide media services for
other internal projects and specialized academic initiatives as
needed. Co-administer the Journalism Website.

Qualifications:
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree

Required Experience:
3 years’ related experience or an equivalent combination. Must include
experience with multimedia, group and individual technical training,
developing and maintaining a web sites, creating/ modifying scripts.

Preferred Experience:
Experience in a higher academic journalism environment and with
operating systems.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
The candidate must be a fast-learning, creative problem solver,
excited (and knowledgeable) about the possibilities and practice of
online journalism and publishing, including audio and video.
Development of PHP/MySQL applications (both custom and open-source,
i.e. WordPress, Drupal). HTML/CSS and Flash expertise, Adobe Premier,
basic Adobe Photoshop. Working knowledge of web programming languages.
Online audio/video knowledge. Solid communication skills/ability to
work with diverse groups of individuals including students, faculty
and staff. Detail oriented and well organized. A self-starter with
good self-management skills. Ability to monitor and analyze website
problems. Ability to monitor, analyze and report on server performance
and use. Knowledge of a variety of current and emerging technologies.
