INTERN: Fall Design Internship with Smarter Food Labeling Platform

Hello!

We’re the Sage Project, a new food data platform with a mission of making food information smart, simple, and personalized. Learn more about what we’re doing:
  • New York Times – “An App to Deconstruct Your Food”
  • Wired – “Clever App Brings the Food Label Into the Modern Age”
  • Fast Company – “Turn Nutrition Labels Into Data Visualizations You Can Actually Use To Make Better Food Decisions”
We’re looking for a design intern for our NYC office, starting September 6th and lasting until the week of December 12th. We are looking for 2 days/week, but can be a bit flexible depending on the applicant. The internship comes with a modest stipend, or we can also consider for-credit, if you are an international student.
As an intern, you’ll work with the President and Design Team on the following:
  • Formulate and execute creative data-driven content pieces that make food data more interesting, inviting, and playful. These include:
    • More detailed data-driven content pieces for our upcoming content platform (see this piece and this piece for an idea of the type of work we are creating). Idea is to use design to help elucidate important topics in food data.
  • Build brand assets with our Design Director — these could include illustrations, print graphics, icons, infographics, and more.
  • Help ideate and implement UX/UI for our app and Web platform.
Ideal background would include:
  • Visual design experience, particularly with tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Interest in developing your skillset in data and data visualization
  • Interest in learning more about food data and making it more approachable
If interested, please email hello@sageproject.com with a few sentences about yourself along with a resume or portfolio.
Start date is the week of Septemeber 6th and it will last for 14 weeks until the week of December 12th.
Thanks!
