Outsmarting Human Outsmarting Human Minds (OHM) is a project designed to teach professionals about decision-making in their world of work. The special focus of OHM is to demonstrate how the biases we have about social groups interfere with the various workplace decisions we make as we strive to attain the best talent (recruiting, interviewing, hiring), train and improve performance (evaluations, mentoring, developing interactions with clients and with each other), and retain the best employees (recognition of talent and merit, promotion and compensation). In other words, OHM is designed to teach professionals about all aspects of decision-making involving humans in the workplace.

We are seeking a Digital Imaging and New Media Development Officer with a creative eye and broad ranging technical skills to join the OHM team. The selected candidate will participate in the full developmental life-cycle of the project modules. (S)he will take the ideas embedded in the content of the module and create visual representations to aid the understanding of the modules. This will involve illustrating key concepts, embedding graphics, videos, and speech to make the presentations interactive, creating ways of obtaining responses from the participant that could be used for data analysis and working with the host company’s technical team to produce the modules in a manner that they can use for their purposes. The overarching goal is to render scientific content accessible and engaging via an elegant interface and eye-catching design that is both scholarly and aesthetic.

Specific responsibilities include:

  •
Collaborating with OHM team members to outline each module’s design (and edits to the design of existing modules).

  • Translating scientific findings into intuitive, visually appealing images and other digital and multimedia content (e.g. audio, video, animation) using programs such as Photoshop, Adobe illustrator, HTML, CSS.

  • Prototyping and iterating modules; incorporating this digital/multimedia content under tight deadlines.

  • Working with clients to adapt final modules to outside systems.

  • Learning and working with new technologies; stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.

BS/BA in Computer Science or other technical field experience in lieu of degree; must have 5+ years of experience in programming and digital/multimedia design.

Knowledge of psychology, other social sciences, and/or industrial/organizational behavior is a plus.

All formal offers will be made by FAS Human Resources. This is a two-year, grant-funded term position with renewal dependent upon continuation of funding.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
