In other words they aren’t looking for a ed tech person who only wants to adapt curriculum for online purposes.

Position Summary:

The New York University School of Professional Studies, Office of Educational Technology in the Center for Academic Excellence and Support (CAES) is seeking a Director of Educational Technology and Online Initiatives.  The Director is responsible for developing and implementing technology strategy at the Center.  Responsibilities include development of academic content and its transfer to and delivery through digital platforms, ensuring academic rigor in all programming.  The Director will contribute to an innovative and creative approach to technologically-enhanced education, both at the NYUSPS New York campus and the NYU Global Network.  This position, in collaboration with the Director of Faculty Development and Instructional Services, provides project management leadership for all projects related to the Center’s pedagogical and technology mission.  The Director of Educational Technology supervises and evaluates administrative staff, educational technologists, and media staff; develops and administers budgets, and oversees the discovery, creation, testing and implementation of innovative educational technologies for all delivery formats.  The Director also assists academic departments as they seek to employ technology both in the classroom and online, ensuring these programs align with the School’s and University’s mission.  Finally, the Director has significant experience in technology and how to employ this to support the departments designing or enhancing programs for global markets.

Qualifications:

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree.

 

Preferred Education:

Master’s degree in a related field.


Required Experience:

7-10 years’ of experience with online design and delivery within a higher-educational environment. At least 7 years’ of staff managerial skills required.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Documented ability to develop and implement strategic plans and programs, evaluate instructional staff, develop and implement marketing, recruitment and retention strategies, and administer budgets. Strong data analysis skills. Well developed knowledge of online learning tools including Learning Management Systems, synchronous web-based communication tools and social networking platforms. Skills in designing, developing and delivering online courses within domestic and international markets, ability to persuade potential users of the benefits of technology in education. Excellent presentation and communication, client service, listening and interpersonal skills. Strong demonstrated management skills including the oversight of a medium-size staff. Ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously and within designated deadlines.
