Organization Profile
PS 3 ‘til 6 is a non-profit youth organization offering out-of-school enrichment programs in
Manhattan (West Villlage). Our mission is to support children’s development in a creative,
nurturing environment. We provide a mix of recreational and specialized activities to
children in ages 4-10. The curriculum, designed to supplement and enhance the students’
school experience, promotes healthy life-style choices, engagement with the world around us,
and civic responsibility. PS 3 ’til 6 classes and workshops help youth build self-confidence and
life-long skills through hands-on, inquiry-based learning opportunities.
PS 3 ‘til 6 employees are offered rigorous professional training to ensure the highest
operational standards. Team members are expected to be excellent role models and develop
meaningful relationships with the children in our care.
Hours of Operation
The program is open Monday-Friday during afterschool hours, and follows the NYC public
school calendar. Candidates may work one or more weekdays.
Shifts Available
Monday-Friday, 2:45-5:45pm.
Program Calendar
The year is divided into three distinct sessions:
• Fall Semester (September – January)
• Spring Semester (February – June)
• Summer Camp (July – August)
SEEKING: Part-Time STEM Educators
We are seeking Specialists with a background in the STEM disciplines (any combination) to
develop and implement creative STEM curricula in an afterschool setting. The Specialist plans
and leads enrichment workshops in his/her content area for children ages 5-10. Trained staff
members assist with classroom organization and group management. Educators report to the
Site Director.

Duties
• Develop Semester Plan that includes clear benchmarks and achievement goals.
• Plan and facilitate age-appropriate curriculum for children in grades K-5.
• Implement hands-on, inquiry based learning strategies.
• Manage classes effectively.
• Oversee proper use of all equipment and materials, and ensure these are adequately
stored when activities end.
• Fulfill other duties deemed vital to the function of the organization such as attendance
and dismissal procedures, supervision of transitions and breaks, etc.
• Work cooperatively with other staff.
• Participate in program orientations, staff meetings, and afterschool events.
Qualifications
• College Degree in area of competence (or commensurate experience).
• At least two years experience working in youth programs.
• Clear passion for and detailed knowledge of specialty area.
• Experience developing and facilitating experiential learning programs a plus.
Skills Required
• Self-motivated, creative and enthusiastic about teaching.
• Experience in curriculum development.
• Ability to engage and inspire students.
• Effective classroom management.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to collaborate with staff to ensure a positive youth experience.
• All employees must pass Dept. of Health fingerprinting and other related clearances,
including a health exam and TB test before beginning work.
