DESCRIPTION
The intern will work closely with senior staff to produce interim and final deliverables for presentation. The range of activities will include: creating illustrations to explain complex ideas; producing consistent presentation documents; unifying the appearance of prototypes across a variety of media (Web, mobile, tablet, physical, etc.); conducting visual design and interaction design explorations and visual design research.
REQUIREMENTS
Recent BA/MA/MDes/MFA graduates or current MDes/MS/MFA students in Interaction Design, Digital Media, Product Design, or closely related fields are encouraged to apply. Exceptional senior year BA/BFA students will also be considered.
The ideal candidate should:
– have strong visual design, interaction design and prototyping
skills across a wide variety of media (print, digital, Web, mobile,
physical models)
– be familiar with the practices and techniques of user-centered design
– have demonstrated the ability to collaborate across disciplines,
ideally incorporating ethnographic design research and working with technical developers
– be willing to work with physical prototyping technologies (cardboard, 3D printing, etc.)
– have some exposure to prototyping with hardware (Arduino, etc.)
To assist with creating prototypes we have a complete machine and model making shop, professional machinists on staff, electronics fabrication labs, and commercial digital manufacturing tools such as laser cutters, CNC machines and multi-material 3D printers.
