CALL: Fwd: NYSDOH HeroX Aging Innovation Challenge

Happy New Year!
I am writing to you about NYSDOH’s Aging Innovation Challenge, known as HeroX Challenge.
NYSDOH have launched a pre-registration site with a description of the challenge, including a problem statement and a call “to develop prototypes that will assist aging New Yorkers and their caregivers in completing activities of daily living (ADLs).”
The challenge will be open to all undergraduate and graduate students attending a college or university in New York State. Faculty may participate on a team with one or more students. Written proposals will be due by April 30, 2018, and selected proposers will be invited to submit a final project by November 1, 2018. By November 15, 2018, five finalists will be invited to make a live demonstration of their prototypes during the week of November 28, 2018. There is $50,000 committed in total prize money.
NYSDOH wants universities to help spread the word of this opportunity through communications and outreach to academic leadership. They also suggested that faculty could use this challenge as part of a course assignment. If you could help spread the word or include in coursework, that would be great. If you do plan on participating, please let me know so I can advise NYU Government Affairs of NYU involvement.
More information can be found about the competition on the pre-registration site.
With many thanks,
Louise
