Position Summary
The Faculty of Arts and Science is seeking a talented Educational Technology Specialist to join the team. This individual will consult with faculty to design, develop, and implement technology-enhanced teaching and learning initiatives, including those delivered face-to-face and online. Evaluate current technology used by faculty and provide pedagogical and technical support in curricular design and development. Create and deliver training programs including conducting training sessions and workshops. Advise and educate faculty, staff, and students in the availability of technological resources within the NYU community, nationally and internationally. Research and test emerging technologies for teaching, learning, and research. Ensure technical competence through on-going professional development.
Qualifications
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or Master’s degree a plus.
Required Experience:
3 years relevant experience or an equivalent combination. Must include experience designing and developing interactive learning experiences for face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online environments at the higher education level. Experience applying instructional design and pedagogical principles. Familiarity implementing project plans.
Preferred Experience:
Demonstrated use of creative approaches to integrating technology in teaching and learning initiatives.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Intermediate knowledge of Word, internet browsers, and operating systems. Experience with one or more of the following is required: Google Apps for Education, learning management systems (ex. Canvas, Moodle, Sakai CLE), eLearning authoring tools (ex. Articulate, Camtasia, Captivate, Softchalk, Articulate), presentation tools, web publishing platforms (ex. WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, wikis), social and collaborative tools, and/or digital video/audio production software (ex. Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate, Avid, Final Cut). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, with an ability to work with technical and non-technical staff. Self-starter with the ability to work in a team-based atmosphere with high standards for quality and innovation.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience teaching informally or formally at the college level. Intermediate-Advanced knowledge of data visualization (ex. GIS, R), multimedia production, rapid prototyping, or programming (ex. Java, PHP, Python). Experience with discipline-driven efforts such as Digital Humanities, games for learning, or analytics/data mining. Passion for learning and hacking new technologies.
