JOB: Kickstarter, Full-time, Senior Product Manager, Back Development

Senior Product Manager, Backer Development

Kickstarter is seeking a Senior Product Manager to help us inspire people to support creators and bring creative projects to life.

About the Team

Whether it’s a first-time backer or a superbacker, our Backer Development Team’s mission is to connect people with projects they might like and to build the story of what it means to be a Kickstarter backer. Working with features like discovery, push recommendations, newsletters, and search, we build excitement about creative projects, make connections between backers and creators, and grow communities centered around creativity. We are a group of engineers, designers, data analysts, community support specialists and more who work to understand and serve both existing backer communities and new communities of potential backers and patrons.

About the Role

From improving core features to delivering brand new ideas and utilizing innovative technology, you’ll be leading the Backer Development team through every phase of the product process: brainstorming, research, wireframing, testing, development, deployment, analysis, follow-up, and iteration. You will synthesize broad strokes into clear, actionable, and phased roadmaps with clear objectives. You will lean heavily on your ability to map obstacles and solve problems creatively every day. We’re open to a wide range of experience, but we’re especially interested in candidates who have a demonstrated track record of success in developing inspiring and functional products for web, mobile, and native platforms.

About You

  • You have experience building and shipping successful products to the world.
  • You have prior Product experience focused on consumer web and mobile or social.
  • You are a confident leader: proactive, energetic, driven, and inspiring.
  • You are a strong collaborator, communicator and mentor to others.
  • You have empathy for our diverse community of backers and creators.
  •  You are scrappy, with an entrepreneurial spirit towards problem-solving and organization.
  • You are skilled in various ways to unearth product opportunities and validate ideas (A/B testing, prototyping, spikes, MVPs, etc.).
  • You have experience in both qualitative and quantitative product research.
  • You are confident in your ability to present work and ideas. You can synthesize findings into next steps.
  • You have experience developing product process, reporting and measurement.
  • You have excellent communication, writing, and people skills.
  • You have a deep interest in Kickstarter’s mission to help bring creative projects to life, and the product opportunities and challenges that come along with it.
