Full-time, Interactivity Design Developer

The position of Interactivity Design Developer is responsible for the design, development and installation of temporary and permanent interactive exhibit elements. The Interactivity Design Developer is a multi-faceted creative partner involved in both physical and technology based interactive elements. The Interactivity Design Developer works with a variety of software programs in the development and creation of structural, electrical, AV, graphic, illustration, programming, and interactive digital media.
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with human-centered design methodologies for end users.
- A strong understanding of the connectivity between design and functionality.
- A basic background and documented ability to code in a variety of platforms.
- Ability to write clean and maintainable code.
- Must demonstrate a competency in Unity development using C# while creating applications in Unity 3D.
- Uses conventional and computer-assisted design / drafting (CAD/CAM software) to develop part layouts and assemblies for Interactive exhibit elements.
- Quickly and accurately complete shop drawings in AutoCAD.
- Utilizes knowledge of various tools, design and fabrication practices, and mathematics and building materials to create prototypes for public testing and team reviews.
- Makes final drawings, checks dimensions of parts, finish materials, parts interfaces and assemblies in preparation for fabrication.
- Creates bill of materials based on shop drawings and site conditions.
- Maintains an organized file system for production drawings, program files, graphics and as-built documents.
- Provide pricing information for exhibition elements and labor as required.
- Must have a minimum of four years’ experience or equivalent in Exhibition Interactivity Design and Production.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent problem solving skills.
- Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to modify work hours on short notice to meet deadlines.
- Able to perform the job safely and comply with company safety rules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Read and interpret documents such as construction drawing, safety manuals, maintenance instructions and procedures manuals, and to write routine reports, operating instructions and correspondences.
- Must be able to speak effectively before other team members to communicate designs, progress, concepts, delays, solutions.
- Must be able to read blueprints, interpret and translate to physical structures.
- Performs other duties as required by management.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in interactive design, new media design, or related design field. One or more years of UX design experienceStrong working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator. Create, read, and interpret design and program documents. Maintain a working and current knowledge of all design software required for essential duties. Programming experience in Objective C, C++Strong working knowledge of HTML 5, CSS3, and JavaScript/jQueryMaintain yearly certification in all Equipment and PPE usage as required by Intrepid.
