ZeroSpace Internship Program
Zerospace is seeking passionate, creative, technologically savvy interns to assist with the creation and execution of the technical aspects of our flagship location.
ZeroSpace will be a 25,000 sq ft New Media and technology focused immersive art experience in midtown Manhattan next to Penn Station opening in Spring 2019. It will feature work from cutting edge New Media Artists from around the world and integrate elements of immersive theater and illusion. The project will provide hands on experience for Artists and Engineers who are looking to pursue carriers involving large scale creative technology applications.
Works may encompass the follow technologies, tools, and mediums:
- Projection Mapping
- Projection and Animation for Fulldome / immersive cinema.
- Kinect / LIDAR / Touch reactive displays
- Generative Art
- Processing
- OpenCV
- LED / LCD displays
- Sound design / Ambisonics
- Laser Cutting / CNC routing
- 3D printing
- Robotics
- Zoetropes
- TouchOSC
- Touch Designer
- Autodesk Maya
- Cinema 4D
- High Impact theatrical lighting and special effects
- Lasers
- etc.
Internship scope of work will include but is not limited to:
- Collaborating with artist and teams on the installation and integration of their work.
- Assist the creative and technical directors in the development of custom art installations and interactive experiences within the space.
- Assist in the development of on-site technical infrastructure and systems.
- Assist in the development of custom technological integrations, including a master control system.
- Assist in the maintenance and repair of technological infrastructure.
- Assisting the Technical Director in developing and fulfilling:
- Tech riders
- Installation schedules
- Master Control Manual
- Troubleshooting action plan
- Equipment maintenance schedules
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of New Media Arts and technology driven applications
- Passion for creative problem solving and finding innovative solutions
- Great organizational skills
- Good understanding of GSuite, particularly google sheets
- Preference of challenging, fast paced environments with new ideas
- Passion for cutting edge technology
Interns have the opportunity to be offered a full time paid position after 4 months unpaid. Intern may also be given the opportunity and necessary budget to develop and display their own work within the space.
