About the TLC’s Product Team

The New York City Taxi Limousine Commission is building a Product Development team. Our mission is to create products that help us better serve our staff, our licensees, and the millions of customers who rely on services like Uber, Lyft, Via, Juno, taxis, and more to get around the city. The TLC, a long-time trail blazer in building open data products, needs your help as we take on the next steps to improve data transparency and make city government a little more human-focused.

Client-Facing Product Manager

Short Description In essence, your role is to understand the needs of our clients, prototype solutions to their problems, develop a product roadmap, and then work with our development team to implement your vision.

Your Day to Day

  • Use user research methodologies to understand client needs
  • Prototype solutions and get early feedback from actual users
  • Analyze data about our users to come up with product solutions and projected impact of those solutions
  • Manage the product backlog and roadmap for client-facing products
  • Work with the development team to implement your vision

About You

  • You like working with people
  • You know how to work with people with limited English proficiency
  • Prototyping experience is a plus
  • Design experience is a plus
  • User research experience is a plus
  • Data analysis experience is a plus
  • Experience working with developers is a plus

Back Office Product Manager

Short Description In essence, your role is to understand the needs of our back office staff as they serve our clients, prototype solutions to their problems, develop a product roadmap, and then work with our development team to implement your vision.

  • Use user research methodologies to understand what tools our back office staff needs to more seamlessly serve our clients
  • Prototype solutions and get early feedback from actual users
  • Analyze data about our users to come up with product solutions and projected impact of those solutions
  • Manage the product backlog and roadmap for back office products
  • Work with the development team to implement your vision

About You

  • You like working with people
  • You know how to work with non-technical stakeholders
  • Prototyping experience is a plus
  • Design experience is a plus
  • User research experience is a plus
  • Data analysis experience is a plus
  • Experience working with developers is a plus
