2/14/22
Trinity College invites applications for a one-year Artist-in-Residence position in the
Department of Theater and Dance, for the academic year beginning July 1, 2022 (service period
begins fall semester). For this position, the ideal candidates will be outstanding arts
practitioners working across the areas of:
 Choreography and Dance Practice
 Interdisciplinary Approaches to Performance
 New Media
 Arts and Community

The Department of Theater and Dance is seeking interdisciplinary and engaging educators who
can effectively bridge theater and dance and offer a broad perspective on performance. Our
curriculum balances studio practice, performance creation, historical inquiry, and social
engagement; and we welcome practitioners who can deepen, enrich, and question these
categories. Particular attention will be paid to applicants whose work sits at intersections of
dance, theater, and popular, global, somatic, or community-based forms.
With a four-course teaching load, responsibilities to be covered by the Artist-in-Residence
position may include courses in dance, physical approaches to performance, making dances,
composition, directing, devising, or other generative performance practice, new and/or
interactive media practice, writing for stage and screen, performance and community, and
creating/directing fully supported departmental production(s). Additional responsibilities
include contributing to departmental business and planning, as well as mentoring and/or
advising students.
A terminal degree or equivalent experience is required. We seek candidates who are
collaborative, participatory, organized, and see opportunities for performing arts within a
liberal arts setting.
The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
