3 credit course
How can buildings and cities respond to real-time data?
Course Description:
This is an intermediate-advanced design-build course where students will experiment with manipulating dynamic, interactive environments based on data from sensors and actuators embedded in buildings and cities. Students will prototype weekly interventions which alter the behavior of a space using sensors and actuators (light, sound, touch, motion, etc.). These aims could be activist, utilitarian, experiential, and more. We will question how modern day digital systems (smart home sensors, voice assistants, computer vision cameras, live projection, etc.) influence habits, flows, cultures, and behaviors. We will learn how to chain together applications and physical objects into an interacting system and read action as form.
ALSO!!! I have another job if people are interested, as Assistant Director of this program. It’s an administrative job – but great for a recent grad, undergrad or graduate, in fact.
After two years in a very secure job, someone can get a free Degree in anything the University has to offer.
I’m looking for someone who is interested in Creative Administration – as Assistant Director for the New Computational Design Practices Program I will be directing at GSAPP starting in July. Apply Here
