(Senior) Manager of Product Design, Consumer
100% remote, quarterly travel to Washington DC
Real estate is one of the best performing investment assets historically, but investing in it the way institutions do hasn’t been available to most individual investors, unless they meet high net worth requirements or jump through many hoops in an outdated process.
Our client’s mission is to flip this on its head, and make high-quality real estate investments available to everyone at a low cost. They’re the largest direct-to-investor real estate investment platform in the US since their founding 10 years ago, having invested more than $4B worth of real estate across the country.
They’re looking for a Manager or Senior Manager of Product Design to join their 7-person design team, and your specific team is responsible for the personalization of highly complex, consumer-facing financial dashboards and tools.
You’d be a great fit if you’re excited for the opportunity to help build, coach, and mentor a quickly growing and highly skilled group of designers across levels, while not being afraid to jump into Figma and be hands-on, especially at the outset of this role. You’ll start off managing a team of 2-3 designers, with the opportunity to hire 1-2 additional designers by the end of the year. You will be highly impactful in setting the vision and direction for their investor experience, and expanding the career opportunities for your designers.

Leading design on a quickly growing and business-critical team

Having strong perspectives on, and advocating for, a user-centered design process

Maintaining metrics-minded goals that help translate and parse higher level business objectives into ones that product design can impact

Partnering with product and engineering counterparts to define and improve processes

Showcasing and celebrating your team’s work across the company

Understanding and managing the resourcing needs of several squads to hire and develop talent where needed

Mentoring junior team members, and enabling more senior ones to do their best work

Engaging directly with customers to understand their wants and needs
You have…

Ideally 6-8+ minimum years of experience shipping impactful product design work
-
Ideally 1 or more years managing other 2-3 designers (for the Senior Manager role, 2-3 years of experience managing 5-6+ designers)

Great communication skills and ability to collaborate with people from a variety of backgrounds

A low-ego, team-first mentality

A desire to work in a high-growth startup environment

Experience with dashboards and personalization of data / displays

A preference for designing mobile-first, and designing across platforms

Experience with user research initiatives including moderated and unmoderated

Experience working within a design system, and a demonstrated critical eye toward system maintenance and improvement

Excitement for working on a consumer-facing fintech product
