Student Videographer and Photographer
NYU Steinhardt’s Office of Communications has an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student with solid video and photography skills to help capture the daily life of the school and its academic departments, as well as to film video interviews of current students and other subjects in support of student recruitment marketing efforts.
Using equipment supplied by the school, the person in this role will film and photograph classes; faculty, student, and staff interactions; facilities; and events as assigned, adhering to NYU Steinhardt’s visual style. They will also film one-on-one interviews, in collaboration with a full-time administrator who will conduct the interviews. The student will be required to edit, color/picture balance, upload, caption, and organize all of their output for subsequent use by the marketing team in advertising, on the website, and in social media posts for a prospective student audience.
We require experience with video, camera, and audio hardware and software (Adobe Creative Cloud Suite), and experience shooting in RAW, as well as knowledge of Google Drive. Knowledge of basic sound editing (looping, transitions, levels, and filtering) is required.
The student hired for this role must understand and be able to apply the basic tenets of visual composition and photography best practices, and they must demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, a professional demeanor, critical thinking/problem solving/communication skills, maturity, and the ability to work independently.
The student videographer and photographer will be able to work 10-20 hours per week depending on availability (and will be needed to work primarily during the Monday-Friday 9-5 workday and occasionally in the evening), and will work closely with NYU Steinhardt’s Director of Marketing, Digital Marketing Associate, and Graphic Designer. We offer an hourly rate of $20 (undergraduate), and $27.50 (graduate). Local travel to different campus locations will be required, as well as bi-weekly meetings with the Director of Marketing.
