This is from an artist up in North Adams who has a solo show opening in November at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Gallery51 space.
He’s a really nice guy. We, unfortunately, can’t help him with this request.
If you are interested, it could be an interesting project.

I was wondering if I could pick your brains on a camera building question. I’m making a giant camera that has to spool a huge roll of film across a lens evenly. The camera is built, the spools are all done, and I have a piece of 1/4″ all thread sticking out of the top that I need to rotate, so I need some kind of motor and battery, possibly some gears. The challenges for this are: the pull needs to be very even, it has to be able to tolerate a fair amount of resistance, and it would be great if the speed was variable. Also, the camera is going to float, so it needs to be battery powered and the apparatus can’t be lethal if it tips over into the water. I have no idea exactly where to start with this, so any help would really be appreciated.
