Front-End Web Developer / Freelance
Ogilvy Action is seeking a Front-End Web Developer for a large, forward-thinking government client.
Our team supports the web presence of a dynamic federal agency that employs Web 2.0 tools to communicate with citizens, contractors, and other agencies.
The ideal candidate would have experience building static and dynamic sites from the ground up, and be able to leverage knowledge of front-end frameworks and APIs to innovate creative solutions to day-to-day development challenges.
Technical skills
- Mandatory: Proficiency in standards-compliant HTML/CSS
- Working knowledge of JQuery (or similar library) for DOM or data manipulation
- Experience with creating templates for WordPress or another CMS; as well as the ability to diagnose problems with existing templates
- Experience with cross browser testing and QA (Trident/Webkit/Gecko)
- Familiarity with Google Apps, Twitter, Facebook, and similar APIs
- Use front-end technologies to solve day-to-day development challenges
- Develop full site and blog templates from layouts
- Help diagnose issues on WordPress or Enterprise CMS
- Manage multiple development tasks on different platforms simultaneously
- Solid interpersonal communication skills are a must as you will be coordinating with an off-site client development team
- Ongoing learning a MUST: Learn new APIs and frameworks on the fly
- Government experience is NOT necessary, but an understanding of enterprise web development is preferred.
Personal skills
Hours are flexible and project based. The project is expected to last three to four months.
