Teen Summer Program Assistant A

The Bronx Museum of the Arts seeks a Teen Summer Program Assistant to be a part of our upcoming teen summer program team. The summer program will run for 3 weeks beginning on July 9, 2012 working with 15 teens from all over New York City interviewing community members and exploring various issues at Joyce Kilmer Park (2 blocks away from the Bronx Museum). The teens’ final projects will be creating audio podcasts at the Park and a video documentary to be shown in the Park at the conclusion of the program. The Assistant will be working closely with the main teaching artist and teens to create various projects throughout the weeks.
Successful candidates should have experience working with teens and youth, have an urban planning/design background, basic knowledge of Google Maps, Google Earth, Bing Maps and other Internet-based mapping applications, GIS a plus. Preferred candidates will have basic knowledge of stakeholder and community engagement techniques and an interest in innovative approaches to community-based research; recent graduate and graduate students preferred. This is a part-time temporary position and paid hourly. We’re looking for someone who is friendly, outgoing and a team-player and loves going outside during the summer!
