I’m helping littleBits hire their first Community Manager, and since they have a community of makers/creatives/hackers/kids, I thought the ITP community would be a great place to find the right person.
They’re a very cool company started by an MIT Media Lab grad/former Eyebeam fellow, Ayah Bdeir, and basically like a “next-generation Lego,” according to that CNN feature (which aired on Sunday afternoon). They sell kits of opensource electronic modules that snap together with magnets and can do basically anything: sound, light, motion, etc. Adults and kids alike can then build something off of them, and even request a specific kind of component they want littleBits to make. They were recently added into the permanent collection of MoMA and are working on some really interesting partnerships and getting a manufacturer so they can meet the demand for their kits.
I’m helping them out because Ayah is building something amazing (she’s awesome) and I think this would be a really fun challenge for a community person who loves to makes things/understands people who makes things.
(They’re hiring for a few other roles now as well.)
Please pass this on and have anyone who applies cc: me with their statement of interest and resume.
Thanks and hope you’re having a great summer!
