[JOB] Community Builder, Temboo
Temboo is a small, solid start-up full of smart people who love to learn from each other. We’re changing the way code gets written by removing barriers to making. Temboo lets developers focus on the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of app invention while we take care of the ‘how.’ It’s all part of our larger mission of freeing creativity from technical limitations.
We’re looking for a social, tech-savvy person to spread the word about how Temboo can help makers. You will be the voice of our users, supporting and expanding our online community.
ABOUT THE GIG
This position is part mad scientist, scout leader, performance artist, blogger, and online entrepreneur.
Some of the ways you’ll spend your days include:
• Engaging, inspiring, and helping Temboo users through active conversation within the blogosphere, news groups, mailing lists, and social networks
• Spreading the word about Temboo to the broader programming community through conferences, demonstrations, blogging, tweeting, technical tutorials, etc.
• Building and cultivating relationships with both existing and prospective users
• Experimenting with new ways Temboo can be used, and building fun projects to show them off
• Creating resources that make our product easier and more satisfying for our growing community of users
• Learning how we can improve Temboo from our users’ experiences and communicating these insights to shape the next generation of our product
ABOUT YOU
You’re a natural leader with a deep technical background. You like being in the spotlight, but love to help other people even more. You have an itch to build things and play with new tech, but like people more than code. You’re interested in building (or already have) a smart, well-respected online presence in the tech community. You’re stranger than the average bear.
Specifically, you exhibit all (or many) of the following qualities:
• Proven experience and passion for programming, particularly web or mobile apps and programmable hardware (e.g. Arduino)
• Active participation in developer communities, especially any experience creating such communities
• A thirst for learning about the latest and greatest new tech
• Experience blogging and/or writing, especially on technical topics (let us know if you already have an existing user following)
• Ease with speaking one-on-one or in front of groups
• Excellent communication skills – you love talking about what you’ve learned or built (particularly with other geeks) and can express yourself in video, text, or in person
• Independent and self-motivated – you’ll have the leeway to define much of your job
Temboo offers competitive compensation, an informal work environment, flexible hours, respect for individual contribution, and a unique opportunity to shape a game-changing company. We’re looking for people who have passionate interests outside of work as well (please mention some of these when you apply).
HOW TO APPLY
Send us your resume and a note about yourself detailing projects you’ve worked on and/or code samples, as well as links to your blog, Twitter, GitHub, or any similar online community where we can learn more about your ideas and interests. Email jobs@temboo.com and include “Community Builder” in the subject line.
