Org. Setting and Reporting: The Internship is in the Information Management Unit of the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations. It is for a period of two months with an opportunity for an extension, depending on the needs of the unit and availability of the candidate. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days a week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
       
Responsibilities
               
The intern will assist one of the United Nations peacekeeping information management programmes. Examples of duties to be performed include the following:

 Develop video and interactive training support materials including research of relevant tools and video production methodologies for remote delivery in low-bandwidth field mission environments;
 Post web content and support website content management;

 Support the maintenance of content databases and electronic resources;
 Create metadata for digital collections; and,

 Support the activities of the Information Management Unit, as needed.

Education
               
Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) preferably in information management, interactive telecommunication, multimedia design, video production or related area; or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree;

Capability and skills to produce multimedia and video content using Abode Premiere, Adobe Connect, Captiva, Final Cut Pro, Udutu, Webex, Director, Flash, JavaScript or Fireworks, and familiarity with web publishing and information architecture are desirable.

Be computer literate in standard software applications;

Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and

Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
       
Work Experience
       
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
       
Languages
       
Fluency in  English,(both oral and written) is required; knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
