Hi ITPers,
Do you love mobile design? Like, really, really love it? If you design for native apps – iOS for sure, and maybe you dabble with Android and Windows too – and you’ve got a super strong visual design sense, with good Product / UX thinking going on…well, we want to meet you.

Our client, a successful lifestyle & media brand with literally millions of users, that’s successfully transformed into a product + tech company – they help their users navigate some of their most important, happy moments and decisions in their lives, in a meaningful, design-led way.

They’ve been around the block for over a decade, so there’s heaps of stability, and yet they have an internal “swat team”, Agile process on the inside, which feels very much like a startup – indeed, their design leaders are startup mavericks and both have super impressive track records –  more on them below – so they like fellow entrepreneurial, innovative thinkers.

They’re seeking an entrepreneurial, can-do fulltime Mobile Designer, Visual UI-leaning but with UX in the mix too, who’s successfully designed + launched mobile apps, and who keeps up with the latest and greatest in mobile tech and design.
They like folks who think beyond best practices to innovate new user-centered products that are elegant and delightful, and startup / Agile backgrounds are always welcome, as they operate in the same way.

Now, their fearless leaders! They get their own paragraph they’re so awesome and well-respected in the field. Their new VP of UX & Design – who we’ve worked with and *adored* for many years – is one of the most empathetic, transparent, thoughtful, and supportive managers you could wish for.  He really cares about people and design to a degree that’s totally, totally special. And, their new EVP of Product has a slammin’ pedigree, both in academia and in business, as well as a successful track record of start-up leadership, and multiple patents under his name.  He’s helped revamp the team into Agile squads, so Design + Tech + Product are all in equal partnership, collaborating closely to iterate new and exciting products and features.

You’ll enjoy excellent benefits, including unlimited PTO, 401K, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, educational stipend, guest speakers and learning events, volunteering opportunities, and a mentorship program. It’s a culture of developing people, with lots of attention to the happiness of their employees. Indeed – their internal colleague satisfaction survey is overwhelmingly positive, and they have very little turnover – the proof is in the pudding, as they say.

As a designer:

  • You have world-class Visual and UX sensibility and skills, with experience in mobile app design – iOS is a must, Android + Windows are big plusses
  • You bring projects from concept to completion, and have successful product launches under your belt.
  • You value outcome over output, understand the role of the MVP as a tool for measuring progress toward a desired outcome.
  • You have a passion for research – either doing it, or learning it on the job [they will train you here, which is a nice perk] – ie, user testing and user behavior analysis, and process quantitative as well as qualitative data alongside empathy as a driver to distill into innovative, user-centric solutions.
  • You have a solid understanding of brand and are capable of executing on designs that support and communicate brand value
  • You’re smart, confident, highly competent—and mature enough not to have an ego.
  • You’re a skilled communicator who welcomes honest, candid feedback.
  • You are a team player who effectively partners with Product Managers, Devs, Researchers and content creators to oversee the experience from conception to launch
  • You thrive in a fast-paced Agile environment to rapidly test and learn, and you have Agile experience, preferably.
  • You have strong facilitation and collaboration skills with an ability to lead collaborative design sessions and decision-making across the organization.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years proven experience designing user interface solutions on consumer-friendly interactive experiences
  • Knowledge in as many of these as possible: iOS9 & 10, Android 5.0 Lollipop, Material Design best practices
  • Experience shipping iOS applications; Android is a plus
  • BA/BS in Product Design, Interaction Design, or a related field (or equivalent proven field experience)
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean UX design principles and practice (supporting portfolio + references)
  • Ability to rapidly produce multiple UX/UI concepts
  • At least some experience with rapid prototyping, testing with users, and iterating in low-fidelity (paper sketches or interactive mock-ups)
  • The communication skills to clearly articulate your concepts—and evangelize on their behalf
  • Utilization of UI Kit standards wherever possible, knowing when customization is appropriate.
  • Proficiency in Adobe CC, Sketch, and InVision. Experience with Flinto or Framer is a plus.
