ISAW is a center for advanced scholarly rese=
arch and graduate education, intended to cultivate comparative and connectiv=
e investigations of the ancient world from the western Mediterranean to Chin=
a, open to the integration of every category of evidence and relevant method=
of analysis. It will feature doctoral and postdoctoral programs, with the a=
im of training a new generation of scholars who will enter the global academ=
ic community and become intellectual leaders. Built around a mix of establis=
hed and younger scholars, the Institute is designed to make possible concret=
e progress in ground-breaking study that would be more difficult within narr=
ow disciplinary bounds.

ISAW is inviting applications from qualified and suitable undergraduate/grad=
uate students for the position of Information Technology Assistant. Interest=

Job Summary: =

The IT Assist=
ant reports to ISAW=92s Systems Administrator and Associate Director for Adm=
inistration and is responsible to provide support and administration for IT =
activities for the ISAW office. Specific tasks and responsibilities Include:=

 

=
– Support day-to-day issues and functions for the offices of ISAW such as su=
pporting user accounts, email, and

iss=
ues with printers or scanning.


– C=
oordinate with ITS, commercial vendors, and building management to ensure qu=
ick resolution to issues. Keep lead Systems Administrator informed of all co=
mmunication and document as required.

– Document all important work on ISAW Tech Wiki to aid the team and keep=
an expanding resource.

 

– Develop and add to the g=
eneral ISAW IT help pages. If you solve a problem, post the solution so the =
next person may find it.

 

– Train users to help them=
selves using the ISAW help pages;  if possible, demonstrate/ show the u=
ser the steps to resolving a minor issue/problem.

 

=
– Manage database of software licenses, determine which can be reused and ma=
ke proposals to systems administrator when new software needs to be purchase=
d. Keep track of which computers use which licenses.

=

– Manage relationship with computer store, placing o=
rders, follow up calls, etc.


– Su=
pport end-user interaction with ISAW server. This includes helping users gai=
n access and use of the wiki, shared file directories, and filemaker.
=


– Support the myriad of VRS personal co=
mputers – this requires knowledge of most post-2000 flavors of Windows, a va=
riety of PC hardware, and older version of the Macintosh as well.

 

– Operate with a =
high level of service by responding to internal/external inquiries, displayi=
ng a comprehensive knowledge of university policies and procedures.

 

 

Qualifications:

–  Proficiency with a Mac OS environment.

=

–  Comfortable communicating with senior staff me=
mbers.

–  Ability to work without =
direct supervision.
=

–  Demonstrate=
d enthusiasm and interest in working in an academic setting.
