My name is Rachel, and I’m the Executive Director of Coding it Forward. We’re a nonprofit that is empowering students to use their skills for social good.
I wanted to let you know that applications for the 2019 Civic Digital Fellowship are live, and would love for you to share the news with your NYU students. Fellows—based on their backgrounds—will tackle UX/UI, product design, visual design, or service design projects that affect millions of people across the country.
I’ve included language below that you are more than welcome to share. Thank you!

The Civic Digital Fellowship is looking for impact-driven designers to modernize technology inside federal agencies—including the Departments of Veterans Affairs and Health and Human Services! Applications are due on January 5th at 11:59pm PST.
Fellows at the Department of Veterans Affairs or the Department of Health and Human Services will tackle UX/UI, product design, visual design, or service design projects. Design Fellows will have the opportunity to practice human-centered design by conducting user research, user and usability testing, and prototyping—all of which make government services more accessible for everyday Americans.
For example, last summer, two students worked with Veterans Affairs to improve the usability of the G.I. Bill Complaint Tool to help veterans receive access to their education benefits. All past Fellowship projects are on GitHub.
