The Center for Court Innovation is a non-profit organization that works to create a more effective and humane justice system by performing original research and helping launch reforms by guiding justice innovators, nationally and internationally. The Center creates operating projects that have been documented to reduce the use of jail and prison, assist victims of crime, and strengthen communities.
The Center’s Technology Support and Strategy Department supports technology needs across our rapidly growing organization of over 600 staff working on geographically and technologically diverse projects. While much of our infrastructure is hosted and maintained in partnership with New York State’s Office of Court Administration, we support our staff in its software and hardware needs and own and manage Google Suite and other systems, all while being thought leaders and innovators in using technology in criminal justice reform.
The Center’s Technology Support and Strategy Department is seeking an innovative, customer-oriented and passionate Deputy Director. Reporting to the Director of Technology and overseeing a team of approximately 5 support staff, the Deputy Director will primarily be responsible for defining, overseeing, and managing IT projects across the organization, creating and managing strategies for efficiently supporting a growing, disperse, and diverse organization and staff IT needs, and working with the Director to define and achieve goals for the department. Some examples include creating and refining the best way for our staff to make IT requests; defining processes around purchasing requests and new hires; creatively prioritizing alternative ways to meet staff needs by organizing trainings or leveraging accidental techies; and finding ways to work efficiently while allowing staff the flexibility to explore new technologies. The ideal candidate is just as comfortable thinking big picture as they are getting in the weeds and doing IT projects themselves.
