The STUDIO seeks an Associate Director to work as part of a team to provide administrative and production support to our community. The Associate Director is responsible for assisting the STUDIO’s Director and a variable number of STUDIO-supported artists (who may be creatives-in-residence, faculty, staff, or students), in order to realize our department’s mission of supporting emerging creative practices and research. The Associate Director’s responsibilities include implementing and often directing a diverse range of arts administration and project management activities, including grant-writing and reporting, contracting, fundraising, public relations, social media, community building, event planning, artist support, project documentation, facilities management, and staff oversight. The Associate Director serves as the STUDIO’s staff liaison to the College of Fine Arts Dean’s Office, and coordinates the STUDIO’s activities with many other organizations within Carnegie Mellon University and beyond.
The role of the Associate Director is a dynamic and atypical position, as the projects supported by the STUDIO are constantly unique in both process and intent. The STUDIO supports emerging artists who create and adapt emerging practices, providing them with direct financial, administrative, logistical, advisory, and technical assistance. The Associate Director is central to the STUDIO’s support system, helping creative people realize their vision by connecting them to the widest possible array of resources, experts, and facilities.
