Program Manager, ONX Studio (Full-Time)
About ONX Studio
ONX Studio, founded as a joint program of the New Museum’s NEW INC program and Onassis
USA, is a shared production studio and exhibition space for top creative XR artists and
professionals working across a range of immersive technologies – often crossing over into live
performance and other fi elds. Launched in September 2020, there are currently four main
components to the ONX Studio:
1) Membership & Community
ONX plays an active role toward sustaining an artistic community around XR and immersive
practices. In all cases ONX seeks to create mentorship, advancement and collaborative
opportunities for this community of approximately 40 creators and artists. Community
members have been selected from New York, nationally in the US, Greece and beyond.
a) We offer this community dedicated studio and workspace to operate their practice and to
realize new creative projects. The Studio includes equipment and facilities suitable for
producing XR work, including such resources as sound-proof, light-controlled rooms,
high-processing power computers, VR and AR headsets, a motion capture system,
projectors, lighting kits and a suite of audio production resources.
b) There are a range of events and support activities for members, including fi nancial support,
presentation opportunities, bi-monthly community events and social occasions and
networking.
c) Some public programs will be generated by the Program Manager. Others may be
partner-generated with invited guest organizations or artists.
2) Presentation Partnerships
Through developing durable, trusted partnerships with other leading organizations in the US
and globally, ONX aims to create opportunities for its members, as well as public audiences, to
experience work at the highest level in the space itself. Through leveraging these institutional
collaborations ONX seeks to increase its public profi le and add value in the fi eld.
a) ONX co-produces 2-3 public facing programs of XR work from non-member artists in
collaboration with other organizations (Venice, Tribeca, MAX, New York Live Arts,
Sundance, etc)
b) ONX actively seeks out opportunities for our artists’ projects and with the resources
available, support those opportunities wherever possible
c) ONX does occasionally seek out rentals, enable one-off space usage or other more casual
partnerships.
3) Thought Leadership
ONX serves as a hub for conversation, development and ideas through a program of public
facing and industry programs.
a) ONX will host bi-monthly public-facing programs live and online around key ideas in the
fi eld. Curatorial opportunities will be offered to at-large members for these programs.
b) During local events such as the Tribeca festival ONX will host brunches, or other events
for industry.
4) Transatlantic Bridge
ONX serves as a bridge between NYC and Athens, serving to extend and amplify the work of
ONX artists, and the Greek XR community through presentation, humanities events and
education.
a) A number of Greek artists nominated by Onassis are guaranteed membership as outlined
above
b) With the curatorial team in Athens, ONX works are a part of exhibitions and other events
in Athens produced by Onassis there.
c) At least one workshop / masterclass will be held in Athens each year led by ONX
members, and we will explore opportunities for deeper workshops focused on particular
new technologies.
d) ONX members will have opportunities for residencies in Athens as studio space and a new
lab comes on line.
