The Berkman Center is looking for a part-time research assistant to do work related to the “Rethink Music” conference, which will be presented by Berklee College of Music and MIDEM in Boston next April.
The research assistant will support the Berkman Center’s contributions to aspects of the conference that relate to law and policy as it concerns creators, distributors, and consumers of music. The Center is hosting a Call for Papers in association with the Journal of Sports and Entertainment Law at Harvard Law School and plans to produce other materials that will be published or presented in some way at the Rethink Music event. These additional materials may include a literature review of relevant papers, articles, and academic writing as well as a briefing booklet, white papers targeted to specific issues, and/or framing paper about the event as a whole.
The Research Assistant will assist in preparing (and overseeing the preparation of) written materials, administering the Call for Papers, coordinating with the event’s organizers, and otherwise supporting the Center’s contributions to the event. Knowledge of issues related to copyright law, intellectual property, digital media and the music industry, entertainment, entrepreneurship, advanced research and writing skills, and attention to detail are helpful, but not required.
The start date is as soon as possible.
To apply, please send your resume and a cover letter to Amar Ashar (ashar@cyber.law.harvard.edu) and Chris Bavitz (cbavitz@cyber.law.harvard.edu) with “Rethink Music RA” in the subject line.
